Gaddafi targeted for gold currency push

The Russian news service RT reports that besieged Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi was targeted by Western powers not for humanitarian reasons or even for oil. Instead, Gaddafi is in NATO’s crosshairs because of his push to abandon the U.S. dollar to unite Africa and Muslim countries with a gold-backed currency.

“It’s one of these things that you have to plan almost in secret, because as soon as you say you’re going to change over from the dollar to something else, you’re going to be targeted,” says Ministry of Peace founder Dr James Thring. “There were two conferences on this, in 1986 and 2000, organized by Gaddafi. Everybody was interested, most countries in Africa were keen.”

Gaddafi did not give up. In the months leading up to the military intervention, he called on African and Muslim nations to join together to create this new currency that would rival the dollar and euro. They would sell oil and other resources around the world only for gold dinars.

It is an idea that would shift the economic balance of the world.

While the struggling U.S. Dollar has rebounded strongly with the announcement of Osama bin Laden’s assassination, precedence for this theory comes from Iraq which was invaded soon after Saddam Hussein announced that Iraqi oil would be traded in euros, not dollars.

Despite recent demonization in Western media, Gaddfi is widely respected throughout the African continent. For example, in 2008 over 200 traditional African rulers and kings conferred upon Muammar Gaddafi the title “King of Kings of Africa.”

Earthbound CME to strike 4/10/2011: Earthquake alert?

While not nearly as large as last weekend’s event, a coronal mass ejection (CME) occurred today and the ejecta appears to be earthbound. According to government simulations, a portion of the CME wavefront is expected to hit our planet on Sunday, April 10, 2011, around 10:40AM Central time.

According to data from the same site, the last time the earth was struck with CME ejecta was March 11, the date of the destructive, magnitude 9.0 Japanese earthquake. Additionally, the 8.8 Chilean earthquake that occurred about a year earlier was predicted based upon a CME that had preceded it

There are formal studies supporting the notion that the sun’s weather is linked to earthquakes. For instance, an investigation of 16 years of seismic and solar activity claims that all 682 earthquakes of magnitude 4 and greater that occurred during this time were preceded by solar flares. However, the study also admits that not all solar flares resulted in earthquakes. It is widely believed that solar flares and CMEs are closely linked, with the former triggering the latter.

We present the study of 682 earthquakes of ¡Ý4.0 magnitude observed during January 1991 to January 2007 in the light of solar flares observed by GOES and SOXS missions in order to explore the possibility of any association between solar flares and earthquakes. Our investigation preliminarily shows that each earthquake under study was preceded by a solar flare of GOES importance B to X class by 10-100 hrs. However, each flare was not found followed by earthquake of magnitude ¡Ý4.0. We classified the earthquake events with respect to their magnitude and further attempted to look for their correlation with GOES importance class and delay time. We found that with the increasing importance of flares the delay in the onset of earthquake reduces. The critical X-ray intensity of the flare to be associated with earthquake is found to be ~10-6 Watts/m2. On the other hand no clear evidence could be established that higher importance flares precede high magnitude earthquakes. Our detailed study of 50 earthquakes associated with solar flares observed by SOXS mission and other wavebands revealed many interesting results such as the location of the flare on the Sun and the delay time in the earthquake and its magnitude. We propose a model explaining the charged particles accelerated during the solar flare and released in the space that undergone further acceleration by interplanetary shocks and produce the ring current in the earth’s magnetosphere, which may enhance the process of tectonics plates motion abruptly at fault zones. It is further proposed that such sudden enhancement in the process of tectonic motion of plates in fault zones may increase abruptly the heat gradients on spatial (dT/dx) and temporal (dT/dt) scales responsible for earthquakes.

An ongoing coronal mass ejection (CME) has been captured on the COR2 Ahead solar satellite. The CME appears to be even larger than the solar eruption occurring on March 8 that preceded by a few days the magnitude 9.0 Tōhoku, Japan, earthquake and resulting tsunami.

200,000 U.S. Personnel to be evacuated from Japan to West Coast

According to American television station KIRO, 200,000 U.S. personnel are currently being evacuated from Japan to cites along the U.S. West Coast. The Seattle, Washington, based broadcaster states on its website:

The USO said about 200,000 U.S. personnel are being evacuated from Japan to U.S. West Coast cities including San Diego, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Seattle/JBLM.

The voluntary evacuation is in response to growing concerns over the ongoing Fukushima nuclear power plant catastrophe.

As we recently reported, barring a nuclear detonation at the site, the Fukushima disaster should have little direct impact on the United States mainland.

Japanese nuclear plume hysteria in US is unwarranted for now

I have been very concerned about the fear mongering and outright hysteria that has erupted as a result of the ongoing Japanese nuclear catastrophes. I have attempted, through mostly anonymous channels, to dispel and debunk some of the most egregious hoaxes, misconceptions, misinformation and profiteering that have exploded since the tragic March 11th Japanese earthquake that has since been upgraded from 8.9 to 9.0 on the Richter Scale.

As conditions exist at the moment, the fallout from the Fukushima reactors does not directly pose a threat of any significance to the United States with the possible exceptions of some areas of Alaska.

I served as a Nuclear Weapons Maintenance Specialist in the U.S. Army where I attained the highest average score in the history of that school. I was in West Germany during the Chernobyl disaster and I took measurements to detect fallout in that area. I have a degree in physics. Consequently, I have some perspective on nuclear fallout.

Certain radioactive isotopes that are the products of nuclear fission will likely become detectable in the United States over the next week using specialized equipment. However, the diffuse levels of these isotopes will be so low that, like during the similar Chernobyl disaster, the American fallout will be more of a curiosity than a threat.

The only way that the United States mainland can become directly and measurably impacted by the Fukushima nuclear plume is if the power plant suffers an atomic detonation that disperses many tons of radioactive material high into the atmosphere. This is unlikely, but it would devastate Japan with fallout, poison the northern Pacific Ocean for many years and contaminate large areas of the Northern Hemisphere to levels high enough to appreciably increase cancer and birth defect rates.

However, I do not mean to downplay the Fukushima nuclear catastrophe, which will likely eclipse Chernobyl, perhaps by a large margin. It is increasingly apparent that large areas surrounding the afflicted Fukushima nuclear power plant will have to be permanently evacuated. If the situation continues to worsen, hundreds of thousands and perhaps even millions of Japanese will have to be relocated. Tens-of-thousands of Japanese casualties are possible. Ocean life in the surrounding waters will become contaminated. Many square miles of farmland may have to be abandoned for decades.

The Fukushima nuclear plant crisis might well become the largest human initiated disaster outside of war, but the United States mainland is currently safe from the resultant fallout.

8.9 magnitude earthquake strikes Japan; CME’s involved?

One of the strongest earthquakes ever recorded struck 230 miles east off the coast of Tokyo earlier today. The most powerful quake to hit Japan in over 100 years, the massive shock has triggered tidal waves that are racing across the Pacific and that have already wrecked devastation onto many areas of Japan.

At least 32 people have been killed and destruction is widespread. The earthquake struck at 2:46 PM local time.

The earthquake’s timing so soon after the sun’s recent bought of volatility may suggest a connection between the two.

The catastrophic 8.8 earthquake that struck Chile around this same time last year was predicted based upon incoming solar coronal mass ejections (CME’s).

The sun’s recent activity triggered rampant speculation among sun watchers that a large earthquake was imminent. A direct prediction of a Japanese earthquake made about two weeks ago can be found here.

Several NASA scientists have openly refuted claims made last week by fellow NASA scientist Richard B. Hoover of discovering extraterrestrial fossils within a sample of French stony meteorites.

In an apparently condescending and dismissive remark, NASA’s Carl Pitcher is quoted as saying, “He [Hoover] clearly does some very interesting microscopy. The actual measurements on these meteorites are very nice measurements, but I am not aware of any other qualification that Mr Hoover has in analysis of meteorites or in astrobiology.”

However, Hoover’s paper has more than a few scholarly supporters.

This cat-fight reminds me of several that I have directly witnessed (and even instigated) during my career. The sundry scientific fields have more than their fair share of socially stunted, territorial, insecure and emotionally volatile (and even unstable) people.

NASA claims evidence for extraterrestrial life again

A NASA scientist claims to have discovered fossil evidence of microscopic extraterrestrial lifeforms. Like earlier, similar claims from NASA involving Martian life, this evidence originates within rare types of meteorites.

Egyptian archaeologist Zahi Hawass resigns

World famous Egyptian archaeologist Zahi Hawass resigned from his post today as Egypt’s antiquities chief. Mercurial and imperial but also entertaining and sometimes compassionate, Hawass has been the face of Egyptian archaeology for many years.

Hawass is featured on the History Channel’s controversial reality series Chasing Mummies. Critics claim the show is scripted and Hawass is unlikeable. While scenes of Hawass’ explosive temper and pharaonic personality depict a man bordering on insanity, the viewer nevertheless also witnesses events that demonstrate Hawass’ surprising tenacity, toughness and dedication to his job.

A cabinet member of deposed President Hosni Mubarak, Hawass resigned amid accusations by some of smuggling antiquities.

Earth’s magnetic north fluctuating daily?

Our eight-year-old daughter, Hattie, has been conducting a science experiment where she has been monitoring the direction of earth’s magnetic north pole. The expected outcome of the experiment was that the direction would not change over the course of several weeks.

To conduct this experiment, she taped a laminated outline of her compass onto an immovable stone table in our yard. Before she taped it in place, she positioned the outline so that her compass needle lined up with a mark on the paper indicating magnetic north.

Several times each day, she carefully places her compass in the fixed outline and takes measurements of where her compass needle points. Surprisingly, she has obtained measurements which seem to indicate that magnetic north has been deviating very significantly (up to ~10 degrees) on a day-to-day basis.

Of course, this is alarming if true, so we are going to monitor her experiment much more closely over the days to come. However, Hattie is an extraordinarily meticulous child, so we take her findings seriously.

A quick Internet search returns apparent testimony from others who claim to have observed similar phenomena recently.

Bob and Doc I (or anyone else of course),

I know things are going to get exciting today but I have a question sorta in a different direction. You may have noticed from previous posts (kinda infrequent, I know) that I’m a NAVAID tech. I had a most interesting event occur last Friday and wonder what you think about it.

One of my VOR sites was being orbited by Flight Check just about the time that the Geo storm started on Friday. F/C took me off the air, that is they NOTAM’ed my VOR out of service because all of the radials were 3 degrees off. You don’t want airplanes using your site when it’s that far off.

Normally, internal monitoring by the VOR itself will shut the facility down when it goes 1 deg off on ANY radial. 16 small antennas around the site’s counterpoise constantly monitor the signnal. The site itself saw no problems, did NOT shut down, and when we checked it, everything was fine. Apparently the radial “bending” was only in space, not at the site.

Three days later a F/C aircraft flew another orbit and all the radials were … perfect.

What could the geo storm have done to us?

I had a similar event happen about 8 months ago at another site, in Southern Indiana, where only the radials east and south of the site “changed” by up to 5 degrees, then went back to normal a few days later. This time is was several commercial aircraft who reported the radial angles off, compared to GPS, and by the time Flight Check got there everything was back to normal.

At issue is whether we ought to be taking sites off the air during a Geo storm. There’s a lot of expense involved in having special aircraft come down to put us back on the air, plus the time that a NAVAID is down and unavailable.

Some of us are already pushing these questions “upstream” but I was wondering what you guys think, since I HIGHLY value your knowledge of solar and geo mag things.

A warning against the measles vaccination

Over the last decade, my wife, Kathy, and I have become increasingly cautious about exposing our children to the full government recommended battery of vaccinations. We understand and appreciate that inoculations can save lives, but we also recognize that each jab presents risks, so unnecessary vaccinations are to be avoided. Moreover, these risks are compounded when many different vaccinations are combined over a short period of time.

Several years ago, the mainstream media reported a measles outbreak in the U.S., so I asked Kathy to get the children vaccinated just to be safe. However, it was very difficult to obtain the measles vaccine outside of the potentially thimerosal-tainted MMR jab (thimerosal has since been removed from most MMR stocks).

Although I had contracted the measles as a child and, like most people, it was not a serious problem for me, I knew that complications could arise and I didn’t want to put our children at risk.

It took months, but we finally found a source of thimerosal-free measles vaccine and Kathy had our doctor vaccinate all five of our children.

Within days, all of them became ill simultaneously. It was immediately obvious that they had contracted the measles from the vaccine.

The measles vaccine is an attenuated live virus, so we had expected some degree of illness, but it was significantly worse than we had expected. Still, after several days the children began to recover, so we were relieved that none of them had become seriously ill.

However, something much worse then developed.

After tending our sick children for several days, Kathy suddenly became very sick with the measles. Within only a few hours, blood was pouring out of her right ear: her eardrum had ruptured, which is one of the more severe measles complications.

Kathy had contracted the measles from our children who had become ill from their vaccinations. This happened despite the fact that Kathy had taken the measles shot several times before.

Although Kathy recovered, I felt awful. She had not wanted to get the children vaccinated in the first place, but I insisted. The result of my persistence was that my entire family became sick — except for me, thanks to my natural immunity — and my wife’s eardrum burst.

Today, the media is promoting a new measles scare. What many reports fail to mention is that measles can be spread from those people recently vaccinated. The reports also fail to mention that you can contract measles from the measles vaccination and that some cases can be just as severe as naturally contracted measles.

If you are in a similar position as my wife and I were several years ago, I would strongly recommend avoiding the measles vaccination unless significant outbreaks are occurring in your area. And even then, you need to prepare for the potential ramifications from the vaccine, ramifications that can be quite severe. On top of the illness risk, the vaccine does not even provide lasting immunity, as Kathy’s experience illustrates.

Lloyd’s of London insurer Hiscox claims that there was an “unnatural number of natural catastrophes” in 2010, delivering a 36% decline in the company’s profit margins. More specifically, Hiscox enumerates 910 such disasters in 2010, a tenfold increase over 2009.

Profits tumbled by £109m to £211, due to an “unnatural number of natural catastrophes”. Hiscox believes there were 960 such disasters in 2010, 10 times more than the year before.

An unusually strong earthquake struck near Guy, Arkansas, late Sunday night. Registering 4.7 on the Richter Scale, the tremor is the latest of literally thousands of quakes that have plagued central Arkansas in the last few years.

Some people suspect that “fracking” disposal might be the catalyst for the recent and peculiar swarm of earthquakes in that area. Natural gas drilling into the Fayetteville Shale deposits use hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, to force out methane trapped within the rock located underground. The waste water is then disposed by forcing it deep underground through high pressure injection wells.

Arkansas state geologists are currently investigating the possibility that injection wells are producing the seismic instability.

Internet vigilante “Anonymous” has declared war on David and Charles Koch, the owners of Koch Industries. Anonymous accuses the Koch brothers of the current union busting activities in Wisconsin as a way to acquire control of public utilities in that state.

Koch Industries, and oligarchs like them, have most recently started to manipulate the political agenda in Wisconsin.Governor Walker’s union-busting budget plan contains a clause that went nearly un-noticed. This clause would allow the sale of publicly owned utility plants in Wisconsin to private parties (specifically, Koch Industries) at any price, no matter how low, without a public bidding process. The Koch’s have helped to fuel the unrest in Wisconsin and the drive behind the bill to eliminate the collective bargaining power of unions in a bid to gain a monopoly over the state’s power supplies.

Unlike masked comic book vigilantes, Anonymous is a nebulous entity composed of many — and any — people motivated to act against perceived injustices. The movement is openly inspired by Guy Fawkes, the most famous member of the failed Gunpowder Plot conspiracy, a 1605 plan designed to blow up the British Parliament and kill King James I.

While associated with numerous sophomoric pranks, those identifying themselves as Anonymous are responsible for a wide diversity of attacks, some cruel and seemingly senseless while more recent activities have become increasingly motivated by political or moral reasons. The chaotic nature of Anonymous suggests that these activities are carried out by many different people who probably don’t all know each other.

While soliciting information about Koch Industries “vulnerabilities,” Anonymous is also calling for a boycott of that organization. Specifically, the targeted U.S. brands are Vanity Fair, Quilted Northern, Angle Soft, Sparkle, Brawny, Mardi Gras and Dixie, all of which are paper products from Georgia Pacific.

In an open letter to U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack, Don Huber, professor emeritus at Purdue University and a USDA senior scientist, issued a dire warning regarding evidence linking genetically modified (GM) “Roundup Ready” soybeans and corn with a newly discovered “electron microscopic pathogen” that appears to “significantly impact the health of plants, animals, and probably human beings.”

The pathogen, which Huber believes is new to science, may already be responsible for causing “significant harm” to crops and livestock.

This is highly sensitive information that could result in a collapse of US soy and corn export markets and significant disruption of domestic food and feed supplies. On the other hand, this new organism may already be responsible for significant harm (see below). My colleagues and I are therefore moving our investigation forward with speed and discretion, and seek assistance from the USDA and other entities to identify the pathogen’s source, prevalence, implications, and remedies.

A 40-year expert on germ warfare, Huber declared that the pathogen is unique, high risk and should be treated as an emergency.

Dear Secretary Vilsack:

A team of senior plant and animal scientists have recently brought to my attention the discovery of an electron microscopic pathogen that appears to significantly impact the health of plants, animals, and probably human beings. Based on a review of the data, it is widespread, very serious, and is in much higher concentrations in Roundup Ready (RR) soybeans and corn—suggesting a link with the RR gene or more likely the presence of Roundup. This organism appears NEW to science!

This is highly sensitive information that could result in a collapse of US soy and corn export markets and significant disruption of domestic food and feed supplies. On the other hand, this new organism may already be responsible for significant harm (see below). My colleagues and I are therefore moving our investigation forward with speed and discretion, and seek assistance from the USDA and other entities to identify the pathogen’s source, prevalence, implications, and remedies.

We are informing the USDA of our findings at this early stage, specifically due to your pending decision regarding approval of RR alfalfa. Naturally, if either the RR gene or Roundup itself is a promoter or co-factor of this pathogen, then such approval could be a calamity. Based on the current evidence, the only reasonable action at this time would be to delay deregulation at least until sufficient data has exonerated the RR system, if it does.

For the past 40 years, I have been a scientist in the professional and military agencies that evaluate and prepare for natural and manmade biological threats, including germ warfare and disease outbreaks. Based on this experience, I believe the threat we are facing from this pathogen is unique and of a high risk status. In layman’s terms, it should be treated as an emergency.

A diverse set of researchers working on this problem have contributed various pieces of the puzzle, which together presents the following disturbing scenario:

Unique Physical Properties

This previously unknown organism is only visible under an electron microscope (36,000X), with an approximate size range equal to a medium size virus. It is able to reproduce and appears to be a micro-fungal-like organism. If so, it would be the first such micro-fungus ever identified. There is strong evidence that this infectious agent promotes diseases of both plants and mammals, which is very rare.

Pathogen Location and Concentration

It is found in high concentrations in Roundup Ready soybean meal and corn, distillers meal, fermentation feed products, pig stomach contents, and pig and cattle placentas.

Linked with Outbreaks of Plant Disease

The organism is prolific in plants infected with two pervasive diseases that are driving down yields and farmer income—sudden death syndrome (SDS) in soy, and Goss’ wilt in corn. The pathogen is also found in the fungal causative agent of SDS (Fusarium solani fsp glycines).

Implicated in Animal Reproductive Failure

Laboratory tests have confirmed the presence of this organism in a wide variety of livestock that have experienced spontaneous abortions and infertility. Preliminary results from ongoing research have also been able to reproduce abortions in a clinical setting.

The pathogen may explain the escalating frequency of infertility and spontaneous abortions over the past few years in US cattle, dairy, swine, and horse operations. These include recent reports of infertility rates in dairy heifers of over 20%, and spontaneous abortions in cattle as high as 45%.

For example, 450 of 1,000 pregnant heifers fed wheatlege experienced spontaneous abortions. Over the same period, another 1,000 heifers from the same herd that were raised on hay had no abortions. High concentrations of the pathogen were confirmed on the wheatlege, which likely had been under weed management using glyphosate.

Recommendations

In summary, because of the high titer of this new animal pathogen in Roundup Ready crops, and its association with plant and animal diseases that are reaching epidemic proportions, we request USDA’s participation in a multi-agency investigation, and an immediate moratorium on the deregulation of RR crops until the causal/predisposing relationship with glyphosate and/or RR plants can be ruled out as a threat to crop and animal production and human health.

It is urgent to examine whether the side-effects of glyphosate use may have facilitated the growth of this pathogen, or allowed it to cause greater harm to weakened plant and animal hosts. It is well-documented that glyphosate promotes soil pathogens and is already implicated with the increase of more than 40 plant diseases; it dismantles plant defenses by chelating vital nutrients; and it reduces the bioavailability of nutrients in feed, which in turn can cause animal disorders. To properly evaluate these factors, we request access to the relevant USDA data.

I have studied plant pathogens for more than 50 years. We are now seeing an unprecedented trend of increasing plant and animal diseases and disorders. This pathogen may be instrumental to understanding and solving this problem. It deserves immediate attention with significant resources to avoid a general collapse of our critical agricultural infrastructure.

MSNBC’s “Dylan Ratigan Show” blamed the U.S. Federal Reserve for the current chaos broiling in the Middle East.

As Ron Paul and others have maintained for years, the Federal Reserve’s reaction to the 2008 financial crisis has led to inflation causing food prices to spiral upwards, forcing shockwaves of hunger and desperation throughout the world. To keep the banks solvent, the Fed has created large quantities of money backed by nothing, causing the value of the dollar to decline.

By a 6-2 vote, the United States Supreme Court ruled earlier this week that vaccine makers cannot be sued.

In an opinion written by Justice Antonin Scalia, the nation’s top court sided with Wyeth, a Phizer subsidiary, by ruling that vaccine makers are protected from “design-defect” lawsuits by the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act of 1986.

The American Academy of Pediatrics “hailed” the decision that keeps vaccine makers immune from liability.

At a time when water fluoridation is being increasingly scrutinized worldwide, the Arkansas State Senate resoundingly passed a bill today mandating the fluoridation of all water systems in the state serving more than 5,000 citizens.

By a vote of 25-7, the Senate passed Senate Bill 359 by Sen. David Johnson, D-Little Rock. Johnson said the fluoridation requirement would help prevent tooth decay, lower dental costs and help ease the strain on Medicaid.

In his first term, Senator David Johnson, who was elected in 2008 during an unopposed general election, is a lawyer whose two biggest campaign contributors are a trial lawyers association and an investment firm with ties to Righthaven, the nefarious copyright troll who has recently become the bane of free speech in the United States.

Johnson received a grade of zero from a conservative group seeking to limit the exposure of Arkansas’ children to pornography, while a radical, pro-illegal immigrant, global-warming-fear-mongering organization gave him scores of 100 on environmental and civil rights issues.

Johnson, who wants to extend the school year to 200 days, is head of the state’s lottery oversight committee. Johnson is also part of the “sustainability” movement, widely recognized as a UN-led land grabbing effort.

It is clear who pulled Johnson’s strings for this bill:

Water Fluoridation (Bill No. Unassigned)
The Water Fluoridation bill, if introduced, would mandate fluoridation of the state’s community water supplies that serve populations of 5,000 or more. Pew has weighed in on this particular bill, having hired a lobbying firm to support it. This bill, which is the most controversial, is also a direct result of the Pew report. This legislation is proposed in the shadow of a very recent report from the EPA that recommends a reduction in the amount of fluoridation contained in water supplies. The ASDA is depending on the solid science [LOL! Just like global warming, eugenics and phrenology are “solid science.”] demonstrating that community water fluoridation and placement of sealants is a good formula to prevent the majority of dental decay in our younger population, and is vitally important in underserved areas.

So this is yet another example of an out-of-state lobbying effort overriding the best interests of a state’s citizenry.

Only a few weeks ago, the EPA reduced its recommended levels of fluoride in drinking water due to health and dental problems associated with fluoridation.

Fluoride is rejected throughout Europe, and the recent trend in America is to ban fluoridation as Honolulu did and as Austin, Texas, is currently considering in light of overwhelming evidence against water fluoridation.

EPA’s own scientists oppose water fluoridation and the “science” behind water fluoridation has always been specious.

Fluoride is bad for babies.  Fluoride is linked to bone cancer in men, and it appears to increase bone fracture rates.

For many years, fluoride has been condemned for it affects on the human brain. Research shows that fluoride reduces IQ and increases dementia risks.

Fluoride only has proven benefits for topical applications and even those are questionable. Water fluoridation is a failure at reducing dental carries, which is the only reason anyone has ever argued for its use. In fact, look at what happened in Kentucky, a state that mandated fluoridation years ago. The program was disastrous:

A new study reveals pre-school children’s tooth decay rates doubled after fluoridation became Kentucky law.

In 1987, 28% of Kentucky preschoolers developed cavities. That number increased to 47% in 2001, according to the July/August 2003 journal, “Pediatric Dentistry.”(1)

Over 96% of Kentucky water systems add fluoride since a 1977 Kentucky law compelled water suppliers serving over 1,500 individuals to fluoridate, aimed to reduce tooth decay by up to 60%(2)(3). Fluoride supplements are prescribed to children without fluoridated water(3).

But cavities didn’t decline at all. In fact, 57% of Kentucky third- and sixth-graders also developed tooth decay.

“…untreated decay and caries experience have increased since the state’s 1987 survey. The state’s levels also appear to be much worse than national levels for these same indices,” concludes authors Hardison et al., summarizing “The 2001 Kentucky Children’s Oral Health Survey…”

And none of this even begins to address the ethical issue of informed consent. Forced, mass medication is immoral and simply stupid and reckless:

CNBC is reporting that oil prices “tumbled” today based upon unconfirmed rumors claiming that besieged Libyan strongman, Muammar Gaddafi, has been shot and killed. However, an anonymous, senior U.S. government official denied reports that Ghadafi’s 41-year rein has been brutally halted.

Asked if Washington had reason to believe that Gaddafi, who is seeking to crush protests against his 41-year rule in the oil-exporting North African nation, was dead, the U.S. official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said: “No.”

Haaretz: Mubarak suffers coma, treated in Germany

The Israeli newspaper, Haaretz, posted a breaking news headline claiming that ousted Egyptian leader Hosni Mubarak has suffered a stroke and is currently in Germany for treatment.

Haaretz has yet to elaborate upon these claims.

Meanwhile, other reports maintain that Mubarak will take up residence in Dubai, UAE. In fact, some claim he is already there.

UAE officials have made no public comment on the reports, which were so persistent that the UAE’s state news agency WAM issued a rare denial Sunday of bulletins that Mubarak’s plane had landed in the Sharjah emirate north of Dubai.

While Dubai has ambitions to become home to the next United Nations Headquarters, the dazzling metropolis has become the retreat of choice for some of the most nefarious figures and organizations in the world. Halliburton calls Dubai home as does Eric Prince, founder of Blackwater. Thailand’s deposed Prime Minister Thaksin has spent much time in Dubai since he fled his homeland.

However, Dubai has not been a secure safehouse for all who have fled there. A gold-plated pistol was found alongside turncoat Chechen rebel commander Sulim Yamadayev, who was gunned down in March 28, 2009, in an underground Dubai beachfront parking lot. Before moving to Dubai, Yamadayev had a “falling out” with the Chechen President, an ally of the Russian Putin government who is believed to be behind the assassination. While officially declared dead, Yamadayev’s brother claims Sulim Yamadayev is still alive in the hospital and under police guard.

GodLikeProductions is back up

The popular Internet conspiracy discussion site, GodLikeProductions (GLP), is back up after about 24 dramatic hours of down time.

As we mentioned last night here, GLP closed operations yesterday, leaving only a vague, enigmatic statement as a farewell.

According to the site’s owner, who posts under the handle “^TrInItY^”, the outage was due to “internet stalkers” who he alleges committed “libel, defamation of character, cyber stalking, criminal harassment, hacking, ddos attacks, and other offenses…” Furthermore, ^TrInItY^ claims to have notified the police and has taken legal action against the alleged perpetrators: “I’ve got the ball rolling with the police and with civil charges against the individuals associated with this activity.”

However, the Internet adapts quickly and the 24-hour outage has impacted GLP‘s credibility and momentum. Many of the message board’s orphaned members found refuge on sites like LunaticOutPost and AboveTopSecret.

GLP is attempting to remedy this hit by offering free membership extensions and free one month trial memberships. But at least some GLP members are viewing the offers skeptically and wonder if the outage was nothing more than a marketing plot.

Will GLP survive this hit? Probably. The site is too big and the outage too short to cripple it for long. But a repeat of the last 24-hours might not turn out so well for GLP as many members have already established “refuges” on other websites in the case of future, abrupt GLP closures.
