Shredded romaine lettuce has been recalled in several states due to an E. Coli outbreak. While we do not shop at any of the stores mentioned, E. Coli is often associated with lettuce and alfalfa sprouts products.
The best cleaning technique to minimize E. Coli poisoning in lettuce is to rinse each leaf separately.

We received a call on Saturday which informed us that we had purchased Children’s Tylenol products that were now under recall. Although complaints were registered last year about black specs in the medicine, Tylenol as of Monday said that the voluntary recall was not due to “adverse medical events.” Today’s news announced that Johnson & Johnson had discovered Burkholderia cepacia, a bacteria often resistant to common antibiotics, at the plant which produced the recalled products.

Our visit to D.C. this summer left me discouraged. Crime, the poor success of public education in our country’s capital is well documented. Interestingly, all the vendor shops around our country’s grand monuments and public buildings sell exactly the same merchandise. We bought 4 t-shirts. They were all made in Honduras. The food vendors sell exactly the same “American” fare. Plan to be searched before entering all buildings. Kind-a-didn’t-feel like America. Ya, know what I mean?
D.C. to have it’s own house member makes me wonder what sort of grand ideas they will contribute to running the rest of the country.
